GENERAL INFORMATION - The first snowfall usually occurs in early to mid-October. Temperatures at that time range from 20° to 50° Fahrenheit. Our guided trophy hunts are conducted from fly-in camps, offering a wall tent and cots for shelter and from tent camps as needed from there. Items to bring include warm clothing, warm sleeping bag (Holofill is recommended over down,) hip boots, binoculars, and any personal items. Please inform us of limitations or special needs you may have (dietary, medical, or otherwise) when booking so we can make the necessary provisions. WEATHER - Weather in Alaska varies from one extreme to another. Come mentally prepared for whatever nature has in store, and don't let wet weather or clouds dampen your spirits. FIREARMS - I recommend bolt action rifles, partition type bullets and minimum caliber of .300 Winchester for brown bear and moose and a 30-06 or equivalent for other game. I also suggest quality scopes with low light capability. Sight your rifle dead on for two hundred yards and be able to place all shots at that distance in a six inch group. Missed shots and lost game will take away from your hunting experience! Knowing the stamina of Alaska game, and the terrain we hunt them in, I feel these suggestions along with patience, a positive attitude, and good physical conditioning will greatly improve your hunt in Alaska and your chances for success.
